Reservations

THURSDAY-SUNDAY STARTING AT 5:00pm

Call 434.476.6265 to reserve your table.

If you have a specific time you’d like to dine we recommend calling a week in advance, but if you are flexible on the time you can often get a reservation the same day.

While we are only open Thursday-Sunday we are in our offices at least a few hours every day.

Please do not wait to call for your reservation- leave a message with your request and we will call you back within 24 hours to confirm.

Half of our available bar stools are available to reserve each night- the rest are first come first serve.

We are no longer requiring credit card information to hold reservations for parties smaller than ten guests

Private Dining

Houston Room

Our private dining room holds up to 22 guests comfortably, with a maximum capacity of 24.

We can offer a few different table configurations to best serve your guests.

There is no fee to reserve the entire room, however there is a minimum required. Full details can be found in our Reservation Agreement, which we will happily send you.

Just send an email to dine@molassesgrill.com requesting a Reservation Agreement and the date you are interested in. After you look over the document our owner or events manager will personally see to planning all of the details of your function.

For those who have a smaller group just looking for a quieter place but who don’t mind if other diners also sit in the same room, simply call to make a reservation. If no group has reserved the room we will gladly accommodate your request.

Artist’s Cellar

Our semi-private downstairs area holds up to 10 guests. Perfect for business meetings, rowdy nights with friends, groups with small children, or just those looking for a little peace and quiet.

There is no fee or minimum to book this area.

It should be noted that while there is parking and an entrance on this level, there is no bathroom so guests may need to use stairs.

This area also leads to our prep kitchen, offices, and wine cellar, so while you will be the only guests, staff members may occasionally need to pass through the area.

Plan a trip

We highly recommend starting with the Halifax County Tourism Center- they can help plan local and regional adventures and facilitate things like transportation and tour guides.

Blueways: fishing, kayaking, swimming, and boating along the Bannister River, Staunton River and Buggs Island Lake (Clarksville)

Tastings: Hunting Creek Vineyards & Springfield Distillery will work with you to create a wine and whiskey tasting event at one or both locations. A little further out enjoy beer tastings at Buggs Island Brewing Co, 2 Witches Brewery, and Ballad Brewing. Fun wine tasting options are also a drive away at Crema & Vine (Danville) and Virginia Tasting Cellars (Farmville)

Racing: South Boston Speedway is less than 15 minutes from our door and Virginia International Speedway is only 38 minutes down the road

History: tour Berry Hill Plantation, The South Boston Museum, and the African American Museum. See the Crossing of The Dan exhibit at The Prizery.

Outdoors: Staunton River State Park is designated an International Dark Sky Park perfect for stargazing. Check out the Bob Cage Sculpture Farm. Go horseback riding at Shangrila Guest Ranch. Check out local agro-tourism like Hudson Heritage Farms

Stay: Along with many standard hotels like the Fairfield Inn, Halifax has some unique places to stay, like the cabins at Springfield 1842, Shangrila Horse Ranch, and Staunton River State Park. There are many wonderful B&Bs including Charles Bass House, Breezy Oaks, Oak Grove Bed & Breakfast, Chandler House, Bradley House, and Sunnyview Inn.
